Mark Carney has for many years served as much needed advocate for sustainability in the halls of global finance. He served as Governor of the Bank of England from 2008 to 2020, and from that perch wrote and spoke consistently and directly on the need for the financial sector to take a more proactive role to address climate change.
As of 2021, Carney is continuing to press the cause as the UK Prime Minister’s Finance Advisor for COP26, and as the UN Special Envoy for Climate Action and Finance.
